Groups & Activities

  • BOYS TO MEN GUYS GROUP

    Boys to Men Guys Group is a youth group for Southland's young men and is designed to enhance, support, facilitate, and encourage members to reach their full potential.


     

  • GIRLS GROUP

    Girls Group is a fun and interactive group where our young women are able to explore, develop, and enhance their values, attitudes, knowledge and skills. The group is primarily arts and crafts based, with some cooking and healthy lifestyle elements.

     

    Girls Group aims to increase confidence and self-esteem, as well as providing the girls with the skills and tools required to make positive life choices.

  • CREATIVE ARTS YOUTH GROUP

    The Creative Arts Youth Group gives young people the opportunity to be creative, explore different kinds of art, and express themselves.  Art will include photography, painting, sculpture, and creative writing to enable youth to explore their interests and communicate in different ways. The art group aims to empower youth and provide healthy, creative ways of coping in a trusting, social and fun atmosphere.

  • RADIO GROUP

    Number 10 Southland Youth One Stop Shop Radio Group is a youth group designed to encourage and support members with confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, leadership skills, and participation in the community.

     

    Radio Group has a radio show fortnightly with Radio Southland and is youth driven; giving our young people of Southland a voice.

  • E14E: EVERYONE FOR EQUALITY

    E14E is a supportive and social youth group for Southland youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, genderqueer, fa'afafine, or takatapui. Members can be questioning or have already come out. 

    ​

    E14E is a fun, supportive and informed environment for young people to meet new people, ask questions, get advice, enjoy some kai together and do fun activities such as board games & movies.

  • YOUNG  HUMANITARIANS 

    PROGRAMME

    The Young Humanitarians programme is packed with activities and fun while giving back to the community.

     

    Young people will have the opportunity to meet new friends, be involved with Meals on Wheels, SPCA, Surf Lifesaving and more.

    HINE MAIA PROGRAMME

    Hine Maia is a fun and interactive holiday programme where our young women are able to explore, develop and enhance their values, attitudes and skills.  Hine Maia is largely culture based and will include a Noho marae.

    #YOUTH FOR YOUTH              LEADERSHIP GROUP 

    #Youth4Youth is a year-long leadership group for young people aged 14-17.  It runs each Wednesday after school until 5.30pm.

    If you would like to have a voice within Number 10 as a youth-focused organisation, co-ordinate positive change within N10 and work on community projects, get in touch with the Number 10 team.

    MANUKURA PROGRAMME

    This programme has been designed to explore the leadership potential and build leadership skills.  It will also provide the opportunity to learn about the youth representation on non-profit boards.

    Children's Day 

    Children's Day – Te rā o ngā Tamariki, provides New Zealanders with an opportunity to celebrate and give time to children.

    ​

    To join in on the Children's Day celebrations. You can:

    • Organise and register an event, it can be big or small

    • Attend events in your community

    • Spread the word on social media. - use our hashtags #ChildrensDayNZ  or #PutTamarikiFirst

  • Gymnast

    HEALTHY LIFESTYLES     PROGRAMME

    The programme aims to promote living and healthy lifestyles including healthy eating, physical wellness, healthy relationships and sexual health.

    ​

    The Healthy Lifestyles programme is a 12 session 6 week programme run at both Aurora College and the YMCA. At Aurora College the programme is for 12-13 year olds and at the YMCA the programme is for 16 to 17 year olds.

  • On Your Marks

    RANGATAHI SPORTS   TOURNAMENT

    The Rangatahi Sports Tournament is Number 10’s yearly community event to celebrate Youth Week. Aimed specifically for young people who are enrolled in alternative education or training, the fun and safe sporting event encourages an active lifestyle and helps promote teamwork and positive communication. It s held at ILT Stadium.
